First, I have used a Mac for 10+ yrs your course is the greatest gift I gave myself.
    Thank you

Anyhow, in Evernote which I never used but you made look easy and I am trying it out.
What I wanted to know is I have folders on my desktop. Example, Useful hints, Things to say,
Apple Hints etc. there are tons of information in them. I would like to put in Evernote, is there
a way to copy or drop and drag into Evernote? The whole folder not one by one

    Thanks, Gayle

      Hi Gayle,
First of all, I love your comment and thanks for joining the Dojo! It means a lot to hear that.

As for your question, unfortunately I could not get a folder to drop into evernote. You can only drag and drop folder/files into a created note. So if you drop a folder, it will create a zip file of that folder and attempt to back it up into the cloud. You’ve got a maximum monthly storage limit, which will easily be reached if you drop in a bunch of files. Also, this is not what evernote is ideal for. My suggestion is to simply take the time to transfer any important text from files into organized evernote notebooks. Then you can search the information and know where it’s at. And based on the titles of your folder names, this is exactly what you wanted to do in the first place, so I think evernote is a very good idea for you. 🙂

Let me know if you’ve got more questions!

  • Here I am again :

In using Evernote there is supposed to be a default folder, given to you by Evernote.
You mention it in your course, but how to find it to begin with? I seem to be getting
more notes and notebooks and before I have everything everywhere I thought I
should stop and ask. I when thru your Evernote courses again and when to their
web site and still am a loss. What am I missing??

    Thanks again

      Hi Gayle,

If you go to Evernote > Preferences > General Tab you will see the first option asks, “By Default place new notes into the following notebook:” So make sure that is set up to your catch-all notebook. For me, it’s my self created Resources notebook. This will apply to my new mobile notes on the go too. Otherwise, I usually create notes where they are supposed to go in the first place. This default feature is primarily for the keyboard shortcut to make a note from anywhere.

If you can’t find it, let me know. 🙂

  • Tharyn,

Yippee i figured it out, thanks to you. I’m cooking now !!!!

Your my hero, this course is something everyone who has a Mac or is a first time user should take. Apple “One to One” doesn’t give you this kind of info. (taken their lessons also) You explain
everything as you go along and I can even go back on a lesson at anytime. Pus the
fact I can ask questions of you and you answer, and explaining in a way I can understand is worth everything to me.
Have recommend the course to people I know with Mac.

    Thanks, Gayle
