Multiple Desktops
Yosemite loves multiple desktops (or Spaces as Apple calls them). Let's learn how we can adventure into many new worlds with multiple perspectives.

Shortcuts:
- Move through spaces (including full screen apps): Gesture 3 Fingers Right/Left*
- Move through Desktops only: control + 1, 2, 3, etc...
- Or just use Mission Control
*If your gesture isn't working, make sure it's enabled under System Preferences > Trackpad > Gestures.
Use cases:
- Project per desktop
- Windows side by side (with Window Snapping, see Lesson in section 3)
- Quick music streaming player access

Action Tips:
Open Mission Control and start browsing Desktops! Make some new ones. Drag some apps into them. Play around with different views. And also use the green Fullscreen button to make a Space out of an application (ex fullscreen Safari or Chrome).

April 27, 2015Hey Tharyn,
I am on an iMac and when I hold the control down and click on the number 2 key the second desktop does not come forward…
Curious if there is a difference between the macbook pro and the iMac??
Appreciate your time..

April 27, 2015Hey Paul,
If the shortcut isn’t working, let’s double check that it’s enabled.
Go to: System Prefs > Keyboard > Shortcuts(Tab) > Mission Control(On the left sidebar) > Double check that under Mission Control, you see “Switch to Desktop 1” is ^1 and checked. Then proceed to check Desktop 2, 3, and 4.
Here’s a picture below of what that looks like inside my Yosemite.
Let me know if that works. 🙂

October 4, 2015Window Snapping:
As far as I can tell window snapping is about the same as OS X El Capitan side by side
That was one of the features I was excited about than realize I have that already.
I know that operating system has a lot more features but at this time with the Apple Support Communities I’ll just wait awhile. Am I right to assume the window snapping is about the same feature? Are you going to give another Mac Dojo for OS X El Capitan?
Thank you
Gayle

October 27, 2015The Yosemite Course has all of my gold for now. El Captain will have to wait for now. If there is not enough content to justify a new course, I won’t do it. 🙂
